The Canadian Federation of Bridge Builders (CFOBB) is a non-profit, non-political, non-religious organization, dedicated to building bridges of understanding, harmony and respect among Canadians of all ethnic, cultural, religious, and racial backgrounds.
Our high school Bridge Builders Awards program is designed to encourage and support the development of multicultural understanding and tolerance in our Canadian society. The long term goal of the Canadian Federation of Bridge Builders is to aspire to the future generations so that all Canadians, irrespective of their ethnic, cultural, linguistic, religious, and racial background, are treated equally and with respect by their fellow Canadians. By making the Bridge Builders Awards available to every high school student in Canada, our future generations should have a high level of knowledge and awareness that should help eradicate fear, ignorance, and misunderstanding for years to come.
BRIDGE BUILDER AWARDS
A Bridge Builder Award is a prize of no less that $500 to be given annually to one graduating high school student in each School Division or Sub-Division in accordance with the criteria and procedures defined below.
INNOVATIONS ARE ENCOURAGED.
Students applying for this award must demonstrate a significant contribution towards improving relations between cultural groups in Canada. Accomplishments that will be considered include the following:
• Any work which contributes to the better understanding and appreciation of misunderstood cultural groups in Canada, an understanding which should contribute to a reduction in prejudices, racism, stereotyping and discrimination while promoting harmony among our Canadian mosaic.
• Making a recognized positive contribution to society through civic engagement and/or volunteering experience in multi-faith, multiracial or multicultural settings...
• Performing voluntary work consistent with the objectives of this award.
• Substantial contribution to building or mending broken multiethnic, multi-faith and multicultural bridges between Canadians.
• Liaison with new immigrants, helping to raise their awareness of Canadian modes of behaviour and appearance, to facilitate their rapid and comfortable integration in their new community as well as their acceptance in the culture of their new adopted country.

Food Sciences Scholarship
A brand new scholarship for students who are interested in pursuing their studies in the Food Science program at the University of Manitoba’s Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences. These scholarships are supported from the Guelph Food Technology Centre (GFTC) Legacy Fund, which was established to support scholarships and programs focused on the food production and processing industries. This year there are three scholarships to be awarded to students entering our Faculty, valued at up to $8,000 each.
The scholarships, valued at $4,000 each, will be offered to undergraduate students who:
-- have graduated from high school with a minimum average of 85% on those courses considered for admission to the University of Manitoba;
-- have met the entrance requirements for the Direct Entry Program Option of the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences at the University of Manitoba;
-- are enrolled full-time (minimum 80% course load) in the Bachelor of Science in Food Science degree program in the year in which the scholarship is tenable.
The scholarships are renewable at a value of $4,000 each for a maximum of one year provided the recipient:
-- enrolls full-time (minimum 80% course load) in the second year of study in the Bachelor of Science in Food Science degree program;
-- has achieved a minimum degree grade point average of 3.0.
If you have any students that are interested in studying food science and have applied to the University of Manitoba to be a direct entry student in the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences this fall, please see Mrs. Moroz or Ms. Catalano in Student Services for an application.

Crohn's and Colitis Canada AbbVie IBD Scholarship
Crohn's and Colitis Canadais currently offering ten (10) one-time scholarships of $5,000 to students living with Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis who are entering into (or currently attending) post-secondary education in Canada. The scholarship eligibility requirements are as follows:
-- Students diagnosed with Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis;
-- Students seeking an associate, undergraduate, or graduate degree from a Canadian university; college; or enrolled in a trade school educational diploma; and

Monsanto Fund
The Monsanto Fund is proud to support post-secondary education opportunities to farm families. There are approximately 65 scholarships available to high school students across the country who are entering their first year of post-secondary education in agriculture at a Canadian college or university. Each scholarship is valued at $1500.
The application deadline is May 30th, 2014.

The Rotary Club of Winnipeg North is a service club and a part of Rotary International, which is an international service organization of individiual clubs whose members and activities are deveoted and directed to being of service and assistance to their Communities, the Cities in which they live, their Country and the people of the World. The Rotary Club of Winnipeg North devotes its service activities to the Winnipeg North Community and these scholarships are but one example of the kind of service that Winnipeg North Rotarians provide.
Each year, three of these scholarships are awarded to three (3) students from any of the following high schools in Winnipeg: Elmwood High School, Garden City Collegiate, Kildonan-East Collegiate, Maples Collegiate, Miles Macdonell COllegiate, River East Collegiate, St. John's High School, Sisler High School and West Kildonan Collegiate.
This program will officially launch on November 1st, and is open to graduating students who will be attending a post-secondary education institution in the fall of 2014 to pursue a course of study within Canada leading to a degree or diploma from the accredited community college or university of their choice.
Succesful recipients of the scholarship, worth $750.00, will demonstrate good academic abilities and standings, as well as contributions to their school and community through their involvement in extracurricular activities.

Police Preparation Diploma Program at the University of Winnipeg
The Police Preparation Diploma (PPD) program will prepare individuals to be successful in meeting the admission requirements of police forces across Manitoba. This full time eight month program is scheduled to run in September of each year.
The PPD program will focus on the academic preparation, personal wellness, and physical fitness training necessary to meet the rigorous entrance requirements for a career in law enforcement.

This scholarship opportunity is to be offered to a qualified High School or University Student who:
-- Is a resident of Manitoba; and
-- Is a member of, or has a parent who is amember of, the Manitoba Forage Seed Association (MFSA), or who has a special interest in forage seed production (e.g. school study related to forage seeds); and
-- Is enrolled, or is applying to enroll, in a degree or diploma program at the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences at the University of Manitoba; and
-- Has achieved a cummulative grade point average of at least 2.5 or 65%.
Applicant must complete an application form (found in student services) with contact information and a paragraph related to eligibility, a resume with complete details about education, employment and activities, as well as proof of application, acceptance or enrollment in a U of M Agriculture Program.
Applications are due no later than October 31st, 2014.
