Aboriginal Student Scholarship

The City of Winnipeg's Aboriginal Youth Strategy and the Oshiki Annishinabe Nigaaniwak (OAN) are announcing the expansion of the Aboriginal Student Scholarship and Service Award Program to include all the school divisions within Winnipeg. OAN is implementing a newly enhanced Aboriginal Student Scholarship Program that fosters a rewarding opportunity for students in all grades that support educational success, mentorship and career opportunities within the City of Winnipeg. There will be general awards (from $250-$400) available for students in each of grades 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11, and post-secondary awards ($1000) available to one grade 12 student from each City School Division who is going on to further their education. In addition, 14 summer jobs will be provided for grade 12 students in various City of Winnipeg departments.

Eligibility
Students must be in Grades 7, 8, 9, 10 11 or 12.
Graduating students must be entering a post-secondary education program in the Fall of 2014.
Students must be nominated by a teacher or administrator who is familiar with the student's academic perfomance, family situation and extra-curricular activities.

Scholarship recipients will be selected by a City of Winnipeg panel on a competetive basis through an evaluation of their completed applications.

To apply, please see Ms. Moroz in Student Services for nomination paperwork and application instructions. Note that the deadline for applications is May 30th, 2014.
