2014 Lehotsky Scholarship

Mayor Sam Katz of Winnipeg is inviting nominations for students for the 2014 Lehotsky Scholarships. The Lehotsky Scholarship Fund was created to award scholarships to inner-city youth in honour of Reverent Harry Lehotsky and his work in Winnipeg's WEst End.

Each year, a total of $5000 in scholarships is awarded to eligible recipients who have demonstrated significant and exceptional effort as an advocate for health and safety for the people of Winnipeg. The Scholarships are presented by Mayor Sam Katz at City Hall.

Eligibility:
Youth between the ages of 18-30 who are residents of Winnipeg;
Those entering or enrolled in post-secondary education;
Those who have made a significant contribution to Winnipeg;
Those who are advocates for health and safety of Winnipeg;
Those who have indicated their intention to apply their education in the inner0city upon graduation.

If you are a student who fits this description and are interested in this scholarshiop opportunity, please note that you MUST BE NOMINATED by another individual (non-related) who can attest to and provide good explanation of your work and achievements. In addition to the nomination application, nominators are required to provide a maximum of eight (8) pages of supplementary material which may include news clippings and/or letters of support.

All applications are to be submitted using the nomination form found at https://umanitoba.ca/student/fin_awards/media/2014_Lehotsky_nomination.pdf. Nomination forms MUST be submitted to the address below by the deadline, June 13th, 2014 at 4:30 p.m.
