The Manitoba Council for Exceptional Children Academic Scholarship

The Manitoba Council for Exceptional Children presents two $750.00 academic scholarships to students who are pursuing a career directly related to working with persons with exceptionalities. These students must be entering or currently enrolled full-time in an appropriate education program at a Canadian institution.

The procdure for applying for this scholarship is as follows:
1. Completion of the applicant information form, which can be found here. The form must be completed using a word-processing format.
2. Submission of a current resume that highlights these two aspects:
- School Activities: leadership opportunities and positions in co-curricular or extra-curricular activities in which you have been involved throughout your high-school and/or post-secondary years. Indicate the schools where these activities took place.
- Community Activities: list the community activities in which you have been involved over the years and state whether they were voluntary or paid employment. Special attention should be paid to activities that involve children and/or youth.
3. An essay (500-600 words, typed and doubled spaced): Since community and school activities that involve working with children and youth can be very influential in choosing one's future career, outline some of the proudest moments and biggest challenges you have aced in your experiences. Discuss you immediate plans and outline your vision for your future after you have completed your post-secondary education.
4. References: Two references are required for the academic scholarship; A reference form is included in the application package online and should be forwarded by the applicant to his/her references. One referenct must be an academic advisor or instructor. The other may be a personal reference but with the ability to address your current educational pursuits.
5. Academic Transcript.
