Are You a Schulich Leader?

The Canadian Schulich Leader Scholarships are undergraduate entrance scholarships for students intending to enroll in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) areas of study at a minimum of one of 20 participating universities in Canada.

The Scholarship was developed by businessman and philanthropist Seymour Schulich and administered by the UJA Federation. The initiative of this scholarship is to ensure that future Schilich Leaders are among the next pioneers of global scientific research and innovation.

Students who receive this scholarship, known as Schulich Leaders, will be awarded $60,000 to put towards their studies in univeristy (up to $20,000 per year).

Last year, a Schulich Leadership Scholarship was awarded to a Miles Macdonell graduate. Are you the next recipient?

In order to be eleigible for this award, students must be nominated by their school, and must meet two out of the three following criteria:
1. Demonstrate Academic Excellence.
2. Demonstrate Outstanding COmmunity, Business or Entrepreneurial Leadership.
3. Demonstrate a Financial Need for Post-Secondary Education Funds.

Preliminary Application for Nomination -- Requirements:
1. Transcript (to be obtained from the office).
2. Resume outlining all outstanding community, business or entrepreneurial leadership experiences.
3. A paragraph outlinging extenuating financial need, if applicable.
4. A 200 word essay espressing why you feel you would make a great Schulich LEader (this essay will be expanded to 600 words for the final application).
5. Two letters of support, including at least one academic.
6. A list of your three most important achievements.
7. A statement indicating which university and program you plan to attend.

Please submit your application in an envelop with your name and the name of the scholarship on the front. You may use paperclips, but no staples please. Application packages are submitted to Ms. Catalano no later than November 18th, 2013.

Nomination Process:
- All preliminary application packages are due by November 18th to Ms. Catalano in Student Services.
- Five members of the scholarship committee at MMC will review the applications and decide on one nominee.
- The nominee will be notified of their status by December 20th.
- If you are our nominated student, you will then be required to complete the official application package, which is due by February 24th, 2014.
