Agriculture and Food Sciences Centennial Entrance Scholarship

In 2014, seven Agricultural and Food Sciences Centennial Entrance Scholarships of $2,000 each will be awarded.

Agriculture and food related industries are growing in world importance and with a shortage of graduates in these professions, now is a great time for young people to consider a career in agricultural and food sciences.

Graduates of Manitoba’s diploma and degree programs have a tremendous choice of careers in areas like medicinal food research, international trade, product development, food safety, biotechnology, environmental science, food production, marketing, and sales. The Centennial Entrance Scholarships are now available to help provide the financial support you may need to pursue a future in agriculture.

Alumni, faculty, agricultural industry and friends of the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences and the Province of Manitoba through the department of Agriculture, Food and Rural Development have each contributed $150,000 for an endowed scholarship in honour of the 100th Anniversary of the faculty that was originally established in 1906 as the Manitoba Agricultural College.

Eligibility:
The scholarships will be awarded to Manitoba high school students who plan to enter the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences at The University of Manitoba. Eligible students may enter either the two-year Diploma in Agriculture program or the four-year Bachelor of Science degree program. Students entering the degree program either through Direct Entry (right out of high school) or through Advanced Entry (after completion of University 1) must register for a specific set of courses in their first year as determined by the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences and as outlined in the University STARTbook.

The $2,000 scholarships will be applied to tuition as follow:
